XFL new Flash file format coming in Flash 10

Flash CS4 will be able to export *and* import a new source format called XFL. An XFL file is a .zip file that contains the source material for a Flash document. Within the .zip file resides an XML file describing the structure of the document and a folder with the document’s assets (graphics, sounds, etc). - From Colin Moock

Interesting post, but it is a source file format, not an exported file format as in for web deployment

Sigh… I didn’t read it properly. I thought it’s something will be put together with SWF. If it’s just another source file, I can’t think of anything interesting. I feel it’s just SWC version 2.
Thanks to Kevin pointed out my wrong information. I’ll be extra careful not to post anything wrong in the future.
I think I got over excited about the idea. But seriously, my idea is not a bad idea either. Putting all the assets in a separated location will help to solve a lot of problems. I’ll explore it further.

its a great idea, if true it would be more a a shared libary 2.0,

if i remember correctly flex 3 has the ability to externalise the compiled actionscript files, so that you only need to download it once, and not with every swf file you embed your classes in
